GAY WHITE HOUSE PROPOSAL COUPLE MARRY
The two men who made history by getting engaged in the White House in December last year have tied the knot.
Photos of US Marine Corps Captain Matthew Phelps getting down on his knee to propose to boyfriend Ben Schock in the American president’s residence went viral late last year.
The remarkable moment took place just over a year after the repeal of the ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ ban on gays in the US military.
It’s believed to be the first time that two gay men had gotten engaged in the White House.
This past weekend, Phelps and Schock finally got married in Seattle. While Phelps was decked out in formal military attire, Schock wore a black tuxedo.
The photos of the ceremony by Dan Taylor at Dan Taylor Photography have been published across the internet and have once again become a sensation.
The couple are now in Hawaii for their honeymoon.
They wrote on their blog that they were aware that the pictures of the wedding had also made a splash “but we are busy with loving each other and not worrying about anything else for a week”.
Check out more pictures of the wedding here.
