NEW CHER ALBUM OUT IN SEPTEMBER
It’s official! Warner Bros. Records has confirmed that Cher’s first new album in 12 years will be released this spring.
According to the record company, the album is titled Closer to the Truth and will out on 24 September.
Cher’s last CD was Living Proof in 2001.
The 67-year-old singer and actress will perform the first single, also titled Woman’s World, on the season closer of television talent show The Voice on June 18.
This will be Cher’s first live TV performance in over a decade.
The Woman’s World single will be simultaneously released digitally, also on June 18, when fans can pre-order Cher’s new album on iTunes, Amazon or Cher.com.
It’s been reported that album includes tracks produced by Timbaland and songs written by Pink, Lady Gaga and Jason Derulo.
A collaboration with Gaga, The Greatest Thing, will apparently no longer appear on the CD after producer RedOne was unhappy with the song and refused to continue to work on it.
Cher counts Oscar, Emmy, Grammy and several Golden Globes amongst her long list of awards.
Cher is the only artist to have a No. 1 single on the Billboard pop charts in each of the last six decades.
Her multi-platinum Believe album, which sold 20 million copies, contained the single Believe which sold 11 million copies.
