WATCH: SPUD’S TROYE SIVAN KICKS OFF INTERNATIONAL MUSIC CAREER
Openly gay Spud actor Troye Sivan has released his first single – and we think it’s awesome!
The 19-year-old South African-Australian became a household name after he played the part of Spud in the three film adaptations of the best-selling South African novels.
In August last year, Troye came out as gay in a frank video to his YouTube followers, which number almost three million.
Now, the multi-talented rising star has launched his music career with the song Happy Little Pill – and it’s already a YouTube hit, with more than five million views.
Troye revealed that he signed a record deal just over a year ago and that he immediately began working with producers and writers around the world to put together an album.
He’s actually no newcomer to music. He’s performed on Australian television and on stage and even released a digital album in 2008.
Last month, Troye débuted the five song EP titled TRXYE, which went to number one on iTunes in over 55 countries the day after its début.
This Joburg-born boy’s on his way to the top! He was recently named by Billboard as one of the 21 hottest young stars under the age of 21.
