Ellen sets “turning kids gay” pastor straight on gay agenda
Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has fired back at an American pastor who claims that Hollywood’s “gay agenda” is turning kids gay.
In an article published by The Christian Post last week, Pastor Larry Tomczak said that TV shows and their stars are depicting homosexuality to “tens of millions of unsuspecting children, teens and parents as normal, acceptable behaviour.”
He argued that, “The indoctrination and propaganda coming from those advocating a gay lifestyle in our country, classrooms and culture are increasing. All of us need to take note and take action to guard those we love.”
He then listed TV shows that he says are “promoting homosexuality right now.” The list includes Glee, American Idol, Modern Family, The Good Wife and Survivor, among others.
Tomczak also specifically targeted DeGeneres, claiming that she “celebrates her lesbianism and ‘marriage’ in between appearances of guests like Taylor Swift to attract young girls.”
In response, DeGeneres used a segment on her popular show to set the wayward pastor straight. “First of all, I’m not ‘married’, I’m married,” said DeGeneres, who legally tied the knot with actress Portia de Rossi in 2008.
“Larry I don’t even know what it means to celebrate my lesbianism, well I guess I do… it’s that,” she said before humorously setting off a party streamer to the crowd’s delight.
“If you ask me, Larry’s watching a lot of gay TV,” DeGeneres quipped, before adding, “The only way I’m trying to influence people is to be more kind and compassionate with one another. That’s the message I’m sending out.”
“I don’t have an agenda,” she said. “I’m not here to brainwash anyone but… listen to the sound of my voice. Attention youth of the world, I want you to live your lives being exactly as you are. Be true to yourself.”
