Ballet dancer’s stunning performance of Hozier’s ‘Take Me To Church’

Advertorial

Sergei_Polunin_David_LaChapelle_Take_Me_To_Church.Russian ballet dancer Sergei Polunin and pop photographer David LaChapelle have teamed up to produce a stunning performance set to Hozier’s Grammy-nominated song Take Me To Church.

The seemingly simple video shows 25-year-old Polunin dancing in what seems to be a brightly-lit, empty white church interior, magnificently directed by LaChapelle.

Choreographed by Jade Hale-Christofi, the performance is emotional, lyrical and dramatic.

And, of course, let’s not forget Polunin’s beautiful physique and dancing prowess.

Posted just a few days ago, the clip has already been watched more than one and half million times.

The song (and original music video) is about the dehumanising impact of religion on gays and lesbians, and the video could be seen as another subtle take on the subject.

Polunin is a former principal dancer with the British Royal Ballet and is currently a principal dancer with Moscow’s Stanislavsky Music Theatre and the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre.
