A serious wardrobe malfunction saw Madonna take a dangerous tumble during a performance at the Brit Music Awards in London on Wednesday night.
The iconic pop star returned to the Brits after 20 years to close off the show with a matador inspired performance of her new single Living for Love.
In the midst of the song, a dancer was meant to rip off a long cape attached to her neck, but when he did so, it never came loose and Madonna was forcefully pulled backwards, falling down a set of stairs on the stage.
After a few moments, the star – ever the professional – was back on her feet to finish off the show.
Predictably, many on social media took the opportunity to post a flurry of ageist comments and memes about the 56-year-old performer’s age.
Madonna later took to Instagram to let her fans know that she was okay.
“Armani hooked me up! My beautiful cape was tied too tight! But nothing can stop me and love really lifted me up! Thanks for your good wishes! I’m fine! ❤️#livingforlove,” she wrote.
Being the perfectionist and taskmaster that she is, we have no doubt that someone got fired for that on-stage fall.
