Following in the footsteps of Conchita Wurst, a bearded drag performer has received a standing ovation on America’s Got Talent.
Scott Heierman, a pizza delivery man from Kentucky, stepped out onto the stage wearing a tight pink number, sparkling heels and pink eye shadow and lipstick to bemused looks from the judges; Howard Stern, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel.
While he was clearly nervous, Heierman proceeded to wow the judges and the audience with his stand up comedy routine that drew from his life as an adopted gay man.
“I thoroughly enjoyed that. And keep being fabulous,” commented Mel B, while Klum said that Heierman was the first comedian on the show that she’s actually loved.
On his Facebook page, Heierman, who was given a “yes” from all the judges, describes himself as a “bearded drag queen with jokes and stilettos.”
In a video posted on YouTube after his audition was shown on TV, the comedian said that “hopefully amazing fun things will come from this.”
He added, “If anyone out there is struggling, I know the struggle can be real but let me tell that if you’re just yourself and you’re brave and you’re beautiful, everything’s gonna work out.”
