Hillary Clinton, Ellen comfort weeping gay boy
Hillary Clinton and Ellen DeGeneres have spoken out in support of a young gay boy who fears for the future because of his sexuality.
The boy was featured in a Facebook post last week by the Humans of New York photoblog which documents everyday people and their lives in the city.
The image of the crying child was accompanied by his comment: “I’m homosexual and I’m afraid about what my future will be and that people won’t like me.”
The post received a heart-warming response from presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, who wrote: “Prediction from a grown-up: Your future is going to be amazing.
“You will surprise yourself with what you’re capable of and the incredible things you go on to do. Find the people who love and believe in you – there will be lots of them,” she said.
Out television host and comedian Ellen DeGeneres was also among the thousands moved to offer the boy words of comfort.
“Not only will people like you, they’ll love you. I just heard of you and I love you already,” she wrote.
The Humans of New York post has gone viral, with over 600,000 likes and almost 60,000 shares.
