Cher & fireworks! That’s Colton Haynes’ incredible marriage proposal

The happy couple

Openly gay Arrow star Colton Haynes is one lucky man, judging by boyfriend Jeff Leatham’s incredible beach marriage proposal.

The Los Angeles celebrity florist, 46, decided to pop the question to the 28-year-old actor in Los Cabos, Mexico on Saturday night.

Amazingly, he arranged to have Cher appear in a personalised video message projected on a huge screen on the beach at the Las Ventanas al Paraíso resort to help him along.

“So, I got you babe!” the singer and gay icon said to the two. “Alright, this is for you, you know what it is, you know what you’re supposed to do now and this is gonna be the best thing ever and you have to call me to tell me how it worked out, alright?”

The video also featured messages from family and friends, including names like Melanie Griffith and Serena Williams. The proposal saw Jeff getting down on one knee, fireworks exploding in the night sky, and the emotional couple dancing to the sound of Bruno Mars’ Marry You.

“I SAID YES!!!” posted an ecstatic Colton to his 5.9 million Instagram followers. “Thank you @cher for the beautiful ‘I got you babe’ proposal lead in, you sounded incredible as always 🙂 The most special night of my life…”

He went on to write: “Overwhelmed by all of the love & support y’all have been sending @jeffleatham & I on our engagement. The fact that so many people love love as much as we do is truly inspiring and I feel so humbled. No matter who you love…don’t be afraid to love hard :).”

The couple only went public with their relationship last month. Colton made headlines in May last year when he officially confirmed that he is a proudly gay man.

Since coming out, he’s become a vocal advocate for LGBTI equality and made a memorable emotional speech after accepting the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Visibility Award in August.

We wish the couple all the best. Congratulations!

I SAID YES!!! ??❤️ @jeffleatham
