A moving new coming-of-age queer film, I Wish You All the Best, is set to premiere in South African cinemas this November.
The American production is already making waves for its tender, honest portrayal of identity, love, and belonging.
The directorial and screenwriting debut of Tommy Dorfman (best known for playing the role of Ryan Shaver in the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why), the film brings Mason Deaver’s beloved best-selling novel to life in a beautifully modern and deeply emotional way.”
About the Film
I Wish You All the Best follows a high school junior, Ben DeBacker (played by Corey Fogelmanis), who comes out as non-binary. It doesn’t go well, and they are subsequently kicked out of their family home.
Left with nowhere else to turn, they move in with their estranged older sister (Alexandra Daddario) and her husband (Cole Sprouse).
Starting over in a new school, they find an unexpected ally in a quirky art teacher (Lena Dunham) and form a life-changing friendship with a kind-hearted student, portrayed by Miles Gutierrez-Riley.
Through humour, heartbreak, and healing, I Wish You All the Best captures the journey of discovering who you are and finding family and love in the most unexpected places.
