VIAGRA USE WARNING

Advertorial

A US consumer group has released a list of 56 substances that could negatively interact with erectile dysfunction (ED) drugs such as Viagra.

According to Public Citizen, men using ED drugs such as Viagra, Cialis or Levitra could suffer from dangerous side effects if they also use certain other medications or substances at the same time.

The group warns that even ingesting seemingly innocuous substances such as grapefruit juice and the herbal supplement St. John’s together with ED drugs could have negative consequences.

It said that those who take nitrates to treat coronary artery disease should not use ED drugs as this could lead to a heart attack.

ED pills could also enhance the blood pressure-lowering effects of alpha blockers which are used to treat both high blood pressure and enlarged prostate glands.

The group urged men to ensure that the physician prescribing the ED drug is aware of all the other medications they might be taking.

The list of substances that could negatively interact with ED drugs can be found here.
