17 KILLED IN MEXICO GAY PARTY

Seventeen people have been killed after gunmen opened fire on revellers at a gay birthday party in the city of Torreon in Mexico.

According to the Los Angeles Times, gunmen burst into the venue, blocked the exits and without saying a word began firing at the crowd.

Reports say, however, that the attack on Sunday may not have been a hate crime. It’s been speculated that the massacre was unrelated to the partygoer’s sexuality and is most likely linked to drugs.

The victims were men and women between the ages of 20 and 30. Eighteen other people were injured in the incident, some critically.

The party had been promoted by a gay group on Facebook but was apparently open to all. The area has been beset by drug-related violence.
