Two male spider monkeys at the Drayton Manor Theme Park Zoo in the UK have been named Elton and David, after singer Elton John and his partner David Furnish.
“They were given their names after they started going off together and hugging a lot. Elton is the more dominant of the couple,” a spokesperson for the Staffordshire-based zoo said.
“They have been inseparable since they got together last year, and they love to spend their time cuddling and kissing one another,” added Colin Bryan, the park’s managing director.
The staff said that they intend to give the couple a special Valentine’s day next week complete with a “romantic meal” of fruit and nuts.
