HACKTIVISTS ATTACK PUSSY RIOT COURT SITE
A hacking activist group has continued its assault on anti-gay institutions, most recently taking over the website of the Russian court that tried Russian punk group Pussy Riot.
The band was sentenced to two years in prison by the Khamovnichesky District Court for speaking out against the increasingly homophobic Russian government, and President Putin in particular.
On Wednesday, a video clip by Bulgarian gay singer Azis and slogans such as “Putin’s thieving gang is looting our country! Wake up, comrades!” were placed on the front page of the court’s official website.
The Wall Street Journal reported that links to other sections of the site were replaced with statements such as “Free Pussy Riot” and “Only an Open Trial Can Be Fair”.
A new song by Pussy Riot, titled Putin is Lighting the Fires of the Revolution, was also uploaded to the site.
The hacker collective known as Anonymous said that its members were responsible for the attack, reported the BBC.
“The Justice system has to be transparent. Pussy [Riot’s members] are alive,” the group wrote on the site.
The same group has in the last week attacked websites in African countries that have anti-gay legislation on their books or persecute gays and lesbians, including Botswana, Somalia, Sudan and Uganda.
The court’s website has since been restored.
Well, at least someone is doing something about it. Homophobia killing thousands of Gays, and some “group” is doing something about it.
Well done, who ever you are..
