LOSING GAY VIRGINITY TO BE ART

A British art student is planning to lose his anal virginity in front of an audience in central London as part of a private art show, reports The Mirror.

Nineteen-year-old Clayton Pettet, from Central Saint Martins art school, will have gay anal sex for the first time on January 25 next year for a performance piece he’s calling Art School Stole My Virginity.

“I’ve held on to my virginity for 19 years and I’m not throwing it away lightly,” he said.

“I have decided to use mine and the loss of it to create a piece that I think will stimulate debate.”

Pettet intends to talk to the invited audience about the expedience after he’s had sex.

Writing on his blog, he explained that, “The concept of virginity has been a topic of intrigue since the birth of humanity – and the loss of virginity is to this day considered an important rite of passage”.

He added that the concept becomes more complex when it comes to men, and especially when it relates to anal sex.

“Virginity has almost become heteronormative in its definition, given that in the most graphic of terms it is the moment when a penis first penetrates the vagina. Therefore when is the moment of loss for a human male?” he asks.

Pettet said that the idea for Art School Stole My Virginity came around “when I was sixteen, when all my peers at school were losing their virginity.

“It was incredibly hard for me to ask why I was still a virgin and why it meant so much to the people all around me. My piece isn’t a statement as much as it is a question. The whole aspect of virginity was incredibly emotional for me and has been ever since.”

In response to the controversy brewing around his planned performance, Pettet wrote: “Virginity to me is conceptual and losing it as a performance piece is the way I have chosen to do that. But for a reason I haven’t said the layout of the piece, the location of the piece, or what is actually going to happen.

“So for people comparing it to a live sex show, I can assure you it will be nothing like that.”
