OIA CALLS FOR DIRECTORS
Out in Africa (OIA) is calling for film and television directors to apply for the opportunity to direct a new R6 million LGBT feature film.
OIA, which produces the South African Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, earlier this year received funding from the National Lottery to make the full-length film.
Three writers have been selected and commissioned to write three parallel narrative scripts with a gay and lesbian theme.
The three stories will be woven together so that the finished product is a single, integrated feature.
The next stage in the process is the selection of three directors, who will each direct one of the strands of the omnibus film.
The film will be shot in Cape Town and is expected to be completed in 2014.
OIA has urged talented, experienced directors – professionals who have the relevant filmmaking experience, but who have not yet made a feature film – to apply for this unique opportunity.
Interested directors should submit the following:
- A two page CV detailing relevant experience and referees who may be contacted by OIA.
- A showreel of work. This should be delivered via a Vimeo link.
Deadline for submissions is Friday 3 January 2014. Please e-mail your submissions to info@oia.co.za with ‘Omnibus Director’ in the subject line.
