MELISSA ETHERIDGE MARRIES PARTNER
Openly lesbian American rock and blues singer Melissa Etheridge has tied the knot.
On Saturday, Etheridge married her partner Linda Wallem at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California.
The two women, who were born on the same day, had both turned 53 two days earlier.
Wallem is an actress, writer and producer and the co-creator of the acclaimed TV series Nurse Jackie.
“True love…so blessed,” tweeted Etheridge after the ceremony.
The singer’s four children attended the outdoors wedding, as did Glee’s Jane Lynch, comediennes Chelsea Handler and Rosie O’Donnell, actor Peter Facinelli and musician Sia.
“They were so happy. It was really beautiful,” a guest told People. “The setting was perfect. It was something Melissa and Linda wanted early on. It was as perfect as they envisioned.”
Etheridge has received fifteen Grammy Award nominations and has won two, as well as a Best Original Song Academy Award. She came out publicly as a lesbian in 1993.
