HAVING SEX WITH NEW MAN EVERY DAY FOR A YEAR – FOR ART?

A performance artist in Berlin is planning to sleep with a different man every day for a year as an art project.

The 26-year-old Russian-born Mischa Badasyan’s project is called Save the Date.

Through it, he aims to explore loneliness and the difficulty of connecting with others in today’s impersonal world and hook-up gay culture.

He told Vocativ.com that, “It is a biographical work. I have been in love twice, but both times it was unrequited. So this will be an exploration of that loneliness… the loneliness of the city.”

Badasyan will create photo and video installations, a documentary and other artworks that will document both the overall experience and the men that he’s planning to meet through hook-up apps and dating sites.

Badasyan said that he won’t tell most of his dates that he’s sleeping with them for an art project but he hopes that some of them will agree to be interviewed for the documentary.

“Well, I am going to meet a lot of people, each with [his] own story and background. I want to keep these moments. Collecting 365 pieces of each guy will help me to create a collective installation body and make all of the non-places into a place,” he explained.

Badasyan revealed that he has tested negative for STIs and will use sponsored condoms every time he has sex. He plans to start his project next month.

He told Mic.com that his past anonymous sexual encounters had often been unfulfilling. “I would go to [the park] every night and have sex with guys … until 5 o’clock [or] 6 o’clock in the morning. And I was always … I felt very bad, I was crying all the time. I am always sad after these kind of meetings,” he said.

“I don’t deny that it’s a bit egoistic,” he added. “It’s OK. It’s performance art, and a performance artist should always be pushing his own body and the performance.”
