GAY MAN GETS THREE YEARS IN JAIL FOR ‘IMMORAL ACTS’
A man in eastern Saudi Arabia has been sentenced to three years in prison on homosexuality charges, simply for wanting to have gay sex and sharing nude photos.
According to Gulf News, the unnamed man in his 30s was found guilty of engaging in “immoral acts” by a court in the city of Dammam.
These included posting naked pictures of himself on social media, offering to have sex with other men “for free” and having “offensive” pictures and chatting with other people on his mobile phone.
He was arrested by the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice and will also have to pay a huge SR100,000 (around R300,000) fine
According to the report, “Lawmakers, wary of the growing number of gays in the country, have been pushing for a crackdown, including the adoption of tougher immigration measures against expatriate homosexuals and their prompt deportation.”
Homosexuality is outlawed in all Gulf Cooperation Countries, which include Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Punishments include imprisonment, fines, deportation and even the death penalty.
