The Belgrace: A gay-welcoming romantic oasis in Mpumalanga

Our opulent suite (one of eight) was sumptuous, complete with a Jacuzzi, massive bathroom (with a shower for four) and a plush bed. A highlight was the private deck with a splash pool and a view into the valley; a macadamia nut farm.

The staff were always engaging and efficient. We were treated with smiles and immaculate service (including being asked at just the right times if we wanted photos taken with our cellphones while at dinner or having drinks on the deck). They acknowledged our relationship and anniversary with warmth and attentiveness.

Dinner at the hotel’s award winning Rock Fig was top-notch: delicious and beautifully presented food in an intimate setting. (This fine dining restaurant was recently named one of the Top 100 restaurants to explore in South Africa).

We returned to our suite to find the Jacuzzi and the turned-down bed surrounded with rose petals. It was just one night – but we left invigorated, relaxed and feeling very special.
