Saturday’s Johannesburg Pride Parade was one of the largest in years, with thousands of LGBTQI+ people and their friends, family and allies spilling out onto the streets of Sandton.
They were greeted by a small group of Christians who held up signs affirming LGBTQ inclusion and apologising for “the way the church has treated LGBTQI people.”
The colourful procession made its way through the country’s economic hub with the participants making a collective and colourful statement affirming inclusion, LGBTQI equality and the freedom to be.
