JUAN UYS GRANTED BAIL

Advertorial

Juan Uys, the controversial head of the GLA and the man alleged to be behind the SA Male Prostitute blog, has been released from custody. He was arrested on Saturday at his parent’s home in Kroonstad.

SAPA has reported that the 39 year old Uys was granted bail of R2000 by the Kroonstad magistrate’s court on Thursday.

He was also ordered to appear at the Cape Town magistrate’s court on Monday, July 30 to face charges stemming from an outstanding warrant for the theft of R250, filed with the Table Bay harbour police in 2004.

According to the Beeld newspaper, the charge is related to a service in which Uys would inform interested people about “upmarket parties” for a fee of R250.

According to the person who laid the charge, the R250 was paid, but he was never given details of the event. Uys said in court that if he had known that the client was unhappy, he would have refunded the money.

Uys also insisted that Neil Watson, David Baxter and Shaun Thompson were not his aliases as has been widely claimed, but were real people.
