Somizi gets his own reality show

Advertorial

Somizi-gets-his-own-reality-showIt’s been announced that openly gay Idols South Africa judge Somizi Mhlongo will be the star of his very own reality series on the Mzansi Magic channel.

Called Living the Dream, the show will chronicle the life of the flamboyant, sometimes ‘woo shem’ choreographer, performer, actor and socialite.

The first season will feature frequent appearances by his daughter Bahumi, and friend and fellow businessman TT Mbha. Other celebrity cameo appearances will include Khanyi Mbau, Unathi and Mary Twala.

“Expect to see me living my dream in all its ‘fabulosity’, blood, sweat and bling,” said Somizi. “What you’ll see is exactly who I am: crazy, pacey, fun, fast, and loud; but more than anything, it’s laughter and inspiration in one pot.”

M-Net’s Director of Local Entertainment Channels, Nkateko Mabaso, commented on the series: “Somizi is such an exciting personality, love him or hate him, viewers can’t get enough of him. He’s proven his entertainment value on Idols SA and various other productions, and he’s always a massive hit.”

Somizi previously hosted the 2005 TV talk show Intimate Connexionz as his drag alter ego Madame Gigi. He also appeared in movies such as Sarafina and Cry the Beloved Country. He was a hit as the newest Idols South Africa judge when he joined the panel in July last year.

The first episode of Living the Dream with Somizi will be broadcast on Wednesday, 13 April at 8pm on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161). Watch the promo for the show below.
