LEGENDS NIGHTCLUB CLOSES

Advertorial

Legends nightclub has closed.

Legends nightclub in Pretoria has announced that it has closed its doors after five and half years with immediate effect, marking the end of a clubbing era.

“Our lease ends today, 31 May 2010, and the time is right to close our doors,” said owner Fulvio De Stefanis.

Legends had seen a decrease in club-goer numbers over the last few months, but unfavourable terms by new landlords during lease negotiations were reportedly the final straw.

“Legends has been an incredible journey and it seems like only yesterday that we opened our doors in the Pretoria CBD,” said De Stefanis.

The club moved to new locations twice thereafter; to the Capitol Theatre and then finally to its most recent home in Brooklyn.

Legends not only offered the usual bars and dance floors, it also presented numerous live performers over the years including Elsabe Zietsman, EDEN, Stefan Ludik, Andre Swartz and Lizz Meirring. It hosted performances by the Cape Town based drag duo Mince this past weekend.

“We will always cherish this last special weekend and the friends who came to say good bye,” added De Stefanis.

In addition to twice winning best float in the annual Joburg Pride parade Legends was also voted best gay club in South Africa by Mambaonline.com site visitors in 2008 and 2009.
