Bisexual American actress Lindsay Lohan burst into tears after being sentenced by a court to 90 day in jail.
The 24 year old tabloid celebrity, who has become known more for her reckless behaviour than her talent, appeared in a Los Angeles court for violating her probation.
Following a 2007 drunken driving incident, Lohan had been ordered to attend weekly alcohol counselling sessions and to wear an electronic device, known as a SCRAM bracelet, around her ankle which monitors alcohol use.
The court heard on Wednesday that Lohan had repeatedly missed her counselling sessions and that the SCRAM bracelet recorded alcohol use by the actress on the 7th of June.
The actress began sobbing when sentenced, saying: “I did do everything that I was told to do and did the best I could.” She insisted that she had been given permission to miss the counselling sessions due to work commitments.
Lohan must report to the authorities on July 20 to begin her sentence. She has also been sentenced to an additional 90 days of rehab after serving the jail time.
