James Bond hunk Daniel Craig has dressed in drag for a short film to mark International Women’s Day, which is celebrated on Tuesday.
The two-minute long film includes a voiceover by Dame Judi Dench, who also stars in the James Bond films as “M”, and was directed by artist and filmmaker Sam Taylor-Wood.
Craig, as Bond, stands silently, dressed in a suit, as M cites statistics that reveal that women are not men’s equals when it comes to their salaries, status in society and the level of abuse they endure.
He then appears in a dress as a blonde woman, takes off his wig and walks out of frame when Dench asks, “So, are we equals?”
“Bond is challenged by ‘M’ to think about gender inequality, and I hope that the film encourages viewers to do the same,” Taylor-Wood told Reuters.
“Despite great advances in women’s rights, statistics show that when it comes to the balance of power between the sexes, equality is far from being a global reality,” she said.
