South African Music Award winner Toya Delazy is holding auditions for “Team Delazy”, a crew of dancers, musicians and singers who’ll perform with her across the country over the next six months.
These auditions will take place at a secret location in Cape Town on 17 and 18 July.
“It’s important to identify and build the great talent we have at home, and that’s why I’m holding these auditions. I want everyone to have a fair chance, and to know that no matter where you’re from, if you believe in your skills it will take you places,” said the singer and songwriter.
The panel of judges assessing the applicants will be made up of Delazy, Bash The Beast, who is the World Electric Boogie Champion and Delazy’s choreographer, Mary Scary, a backing vocalist, Cape Town Entertainer Anthony Morgan, a former Coca-Cola Popstars Judge and a member of Delazy Entertainment Management, and artistic directors Capello and Thapelo Lekoane.
To apply to audition, visit www.delazy.com and fill in the audition form. The deadline for entry is 12 July at 23:59.
Those who make the cut will receive an email with all the final audition information. They’ll then need to work on a one and half minute performance to wow the judges.
The successful dancers, musicians and singers will receive a six month contract with Delazy Entertainment.
“Team Delazy will get the opportunity to travel the country and perform on stages across the continent. Who knows, we might even go international,” said Delazy.
In May, the star received three South African Music Awards for best newcomer, best pop album, and Jax Panik won the best producer award for their work on her album, Due Drop [Deluxe]. She was also nominated for a BET award in the US.
