Adidas shuts down homophobes, backs LGBT athletes

Adidas-shuts-down-homophobes-backs-LGBT-athletesHomophobes have lashed out at sportswear company Adidas after it showed that it’s firmly on the side of the LGBT community.

Last week, the company’s Chief Financial Officer, Robin Stalker, announced that Adidas had included a new clause in its sponsorship contracts to protect LGBT athletes who may wish to come out.

The clause reads: “Adidas acknowledges and adheres to the principles of diversity, as this is a central part of the Adidas group philosophy.

“Therefore Adidas warrants that this agreement will neither be terminated nor modified in case the athlete comes out to the public as a member of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community.”

This was followed by an Instagram post from Adidas on Valentine’s Day that appeared to show two female athletes sharing a kiss. The caption proclaimed: “The love you take is equal to the love you make.”

In a massive show of support, the image was liked by over 224,000 people. Nevertheless, homophobic trolls simply couldn’t resist expressing their bigotry.

One commented: “WTF Adidas? This day is for boy and girl, when they are a couple. Not for lesbians, stupid Adidas.”

The German multinational corporation responded simply with: “No, this day is for LOVE. Happy Valentine’s Day.”

When another homophobe wrote, “Shame on you Adidas!!! I’m going to Nike Now,” the company replied perfectly, with a waving hand and a kiss icon.

Positivity thankfully outweighed the haters overall: “Everyone deserves love♡, I think this is adorable so to all of you who are hating on this get a life,” said one supporter, while another commented: “This is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.”

Last year, to celebrate Pride month in the US, Adidas released rainbow coloured LGBT themed editions of three of its well-known shoe designs.

The love you take is equal to the love you make.
