Was this Orlando massacre victim from South Africa?
There are reports that one of the victims of the Orlando gay nightclub massacre was born in South Africa.
Peter O. Gonzalez-Crus was listed among the fatalities in Sunday morning’s horror attack on the city’s Pulse club.
According to his Facebook page, the 22-year-old was from “Benoni, Gauteng, South Africa”.
He also lived in Batam, Ouham in the Central African Republic.
Crus went by the name of Peter Ommy on social media, and previously worked for McDonald’s and then at UPS from 2014 until his death.
He is shown to have graduated from Colonia High School in New Jersey in 2013.
Crus’ Facebook profile has been turned into a memorial page following his death.
On Sunday, 49 people were slaughtered by 29-year-old Omar Mateen who opened fire on hundreds of revellers inside the Pulse gay nightclub.
He was shot by officers who stormed the venue. Around 53 people remain injured, many of whom are in a critical condition.
