Vigils to remember the 49 victims of Sunday’s gay club massacre in Orlando, Florida are now also planned for Pretoria and Bloemfontein.
These two events are in addition to Thursday’s candlelight vigil in Cape Town and Durban and Joburg.
Mr. Mardi Gras SA, aleXander Steyn, is calling on everyone in his hometown Bloemfontein and surrounding areas to join him in lighting a candle for the victims.
The little light will be a symbol of strength and courage in this dark time. Let us stand together and show our support like so many are doing all over the world.
The gathering will be held at the Uitsig Dutch Reformed Church Hall, Werda Crescent, Uitsig, Bloemfontein, on Wednesday 15 June at 19:00.
Remember to bring a candle and if you like a rainbow flag or any sign that says #Orlando #NoHate #loveALL #GoodAsYou etc.
“Life is precious and our time here on earth is short, let us live a life of acceptance and love,” said Steyn.
Thursday 16 June at 18h00 at Babylon the Club’s parking lot in Centurion.
Bring coloured candles (as many different colours of the rainbow as you can).
Babylon is located at Southlake Centre, Corner of Lenchen Avenue North & South Street, Centurion.
