Robert Mugabe: I will marry Obama

Taking another opportunity to lash out at LGBT people, Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe has slammed America’s legalisation of same-sex marriage.

In an interview with the state-owned ZBC radio on Saturday, Mugabe reverted to typical sarcasm to criticise President Obama for his support of marriage equality, reports New Zimbabwe.

“I’ve just concluded since President Obama endorses the same-sex marriage, advocates homosexual people and enjoys an attractive countenance thus if it becomes necessary, I shall travel to Washington, D.C., get down on my knee, and ask his [Obama’s] hand,” he said, in a feeble and cynical attempt at wit.

“I can’t understand how this people dare to defy Christ’s explicit orders as our Lord prohibited mankind from sodomy,” he added.

According to the report, he went on to state that the American Government is run by perverted, Satan-worshipers who insult the great American nation.

Mugabe has previously stated that gay people are “worse than pigs and dogs” and that they “don’t have any human rights at all.”

Gay sex and public affection are illegal in Zimbabwe, with penalties of up to three years in jail. Same-sex marriage is also illegal, as entrenched in the country’s Constitution.
