LGBT Pink Tent at JamJozi to raise funds for charity
A special Pink Tent for the LGBT community will be hosted at this weekend’s massive JamJozi music festival at Montecasino.
The festival will feature more than 20 performers, including Nakhane Touré, Matthew Mole, The Kiffness, GoodLuck and Mafikizolo.
As part of the two-day festival, a new project called the Proud Initiative will host The Pink Tent; a safe space for the LGBT community, which will also raise funds for good causes.
Entrance to the tent is R20, and this donation, along with other money raised in the tent, will go toward the LGBT fundraising organisation The Other Foundation as well as animal rescue group PAWS R Us.
The Pink Tent will be a VIP style lounge area, with a cocktail and pink champagne cash bar, a shooter station, a vape station, and gourmet sandwiches for sale.
Guests will also be able to enter draws to win travel, alcohol and vape prizes and The Other Foundation will be there to answer questions about their work.
Some of the LGBT and LGBT-affirming artists performing at JamJozi will pop in to show their support for the community.
“The aim of the Pink Tent is for our community to be visible at large mainstream events, and to raise funds for worthwhile causes,” said Kerry Knowles, one of the organisers of the tent.
She explained that JamJozi is just the beginning of the initiative and that there are plans to have the Pink Tent hosted at a number of other events in the future.
JamJozi takes place on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 October at Montecasino. Tickets start at R100, with a weekend pass at R150. Get your tickets here.
