The cast of the beloved gay sitcom Will & Grace have agreed to appear together in a television programme honouring one of its directors.

The tribute to veteran director James Burrows has been the subject of entertainment headlines over the past week after reports that most of the cast of Friends will reunite for the special.

Now, Sean Hayes (Jack) has confirmed that he, Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, and Megan Mullally (Will, Grace and Karen) will also take part.

“It’s the reunion of all reunion shows. It’s going to be unlike anything everyone’s ever seen,” he told reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour.

Now, to be clear, the special is a not a Will & Grace programme per se, but will feature cast members of other shows such as Friends and Cheers to honour Burrows, who has directed over 1,000 TV episodes over the years. It’s also not been revealed if the actors will appear as their characters.

The tribute show will be broadcast on 21 February in the US.

Will & Grace was broadcast from 1998 to 2006, over eight seasons, winning 16 Emmy Awards. It broke new ground by featuring gay lead characters on prime time television.
