Manila Von Teez

Cape Town’s Manila Von Teez has once again wowed viewers on SA’s Got Talent, ensuring she’s one of the top 6 finalists.

On Sunday, the fashion designer and drag performer, 26-year-old Veon Wentzel, pulled off a slick and dynamic adaptation of Ariana Grande’s hit track Break Free.

As always, the performance included a costume change mid-way and her two backup dancers. It was the tightest dance moves we’ve seen the drag diva perform to date.

There was a moment of apparent drama when Von Teez’s wig came off, although it’s unclear if this was intended or an accident. Either way, it only enhanced the brilliant performance.

The crowd and the judges seemed to love every minute of the show. In fact, she received the highest number of public votes on the night.

Von Teez will on Sunday compete against Jesse Govender, Derek Plaatjies, Kryptonite Dance Academy, The Professionals and Phoenix for the grand prize of R500,000. Watch at 6pm on e.tv. and cast your vote.

Von Teez has previously won pageant titles such as Miss Black Pride, Miss Cape Town Pride, Miss Cape Peninsula and Miss Loerie. She performs regularity at the Zer021 club and at other events and parties in the Mother City.

It seems that her career is definitely on the rise! Von Teez recently made a splash with her appearance in the music video for The Kiffness track You Say You Love Me, which honoured SA’s LGBTI community and the victims of the Orlando massacre.

Von Teez previously told Mambaonline that she hopes her success “will open doors for even more drag performers to be seen”.
